Anyone familiar with Rape (The r is pronounced like an H in portuguese – *ha-Pay*)?It’s actually how I was introduced to snuff products. Since using several varieties of shamanic snuff, I have tried making my own and using store bought, and honestly nothing compares to this special and ancient variety. These types of snuff are made using wild jungle tobacco (very strong) mixed with the ash from a variety of sacred tree barks. They are administered with a special instrument used to blow the snuff up your own (or someone else’s) nose, instead of sniffing it.
Very strong and wonderful stuff!
Wondering if any of you snuff heads have tried it, or if you do, curious to see what you think.
PS I am not affiliated with shamanicsnuff.com and gain nothing by you trying it… Just thought I’d share. Also a bit surprised that there is no mention of this typ of snuff anywhere on this site!
Snuffs from shamanicsnuff.com have come up in comments of threads, but I don’t know if there are any dedicated threads to the topic. They are excellent, and I think by now I have tried most of them. I’d love it if Mapacho (and its Indonesian cousin Tambolaka) could find their way into some readily available snuff blends.
I came across this page a few months ago. I’m not interested in the whole shamanic thing, but it seems that their products are of very high quality. I’ve been thinking about trying some.
I like the snuff I have, I have tried these . I am just not in the optimum healthy state of mind to enjoy their keyways to the spiritual realm at this point in time. Indian Whites and rustica are as strong as I dare to proceed in my current state. I have traveled beyond the edge on many occasions it can become a tricky obsession. Especially on re-entry. I am addicted to pleasure, nuff said.
If you do take a large dose of the yopo infused snuff, I recommend you employ some ginger 1/2 hour before or at least have some ginger ale on hand ; it will make you nauseous.
@basement_shaman has advice you should heed. As with anything that involves messing around with potent blends of tobacco with other plant substances held sacred by other cultures. Sometimes that distance is not a lark.
Since the beginning, tobacco was a sacrament. Other plant substances are too. Admittedly you get from things what you invest in it. You dig tobacco, and it makes you feel mellow. That’s your special place. If you go deeper, you need to start from a different center. Like Yoga, you can use it to relieve stress, or your purpose might be deeper, such as to activate the spiral serpent, the Kundalini, and blow away the illusions. If you understand tobacco the way the Native American medicine men do, then Timothy Leary will seem like a rank amateur.
Yes @cpmcdill I find that the best way to use these sacred snuffs and others I have received from Brazilian tribes is in ceremony, or at least with a bit of intention, centering, etc. They are a great compliment to other plant medicines as well. They are also great, in my opinion, for more regular use like many of snuffs that are more commonly enjoyed worldwide.@basement_shaman None of the snuffs sold on that site are .Yopo, which is a totally different and much more visionary snuff that would be considered illegal in the States. Every mapacho blend from the amazon I have tried is simply a far better snuff product, compared to anything I have tried up here, in my opinion. More potent, cleaner, and made with good intentions and vibrations, as opposed to the intentions and vibrations from… tobacco companies. It would be fun and interesting to get some mapacho and try making a few blends with it.
Very interesting thread. While I enjoy rustica, and grow my own Hopi variety, I don’t think I’d be down with someone blowing snuff into my nose with a bamboo rod. No matter what the effects may be like, I don’t think the taking of that snuff sounds like a pleasant experience.
@mrmanos - that method, from what I’ve seen in videos, is not generally pleasurable to the recipient. As part of a shamanic ritual it’s more of a kick in the head to propel you into liminal space, though it’s tough to imagine one might feel spiritual with tears running down your face and nausea/cramps welling up.
Ahh somehow I didn’t see those… Well then I will order them and report back to you guys after trying them. So far all the blends I have tried are not as intense as they might seem. Really feels like it opens up the channels in the head and body, and is very grounding and calming. Very beautiful stuff.
You’ll know when you’ve got an ample supply of yopo. You’ll wear through a couple rolls of paper towels and possibly need to wash your bedding.
Did you know that some research has found that mucus actually carries tactile information back to the brain, as long as it’s connected, no matter how far the strings run from the mouth or nose? Flash fact! They are like spiritual antennae, so don’t be ashamed if you make a mess after consuming huge amounts of yopo. Expanded mind, expanded body boundaries.
I think the substances being talked about are so different from what we think of as “snuff” that it should be discussed in the off topic thread, or perhaps even another forum. I guess you could describe cocaine as form of snuff derived from coca leaves, but I’d put that in a separate class, too.
