so i made some snuff out of copenhagen snuff fine cut by drying it in a skillet over medium. and ground it as best i could. it is very easy to get it to hit the back of the throat. which i know is bad and it seems like atleast half of what i put in drips out the front of my nose or down the back of my throat. what i want to know is when i buy some snuff soon will i still have this problem, will it be a higher quality and have a stroger nicotine hit. (i barely notice it from what i have home made and even then thats only in the morning) is there ever going to be a time when i can take a sniff and not have my nose run and what snuffs are the easiest for beginners. im looking for something with a noticeable nicotine hit or buzz. since i was a heavy dipper(could hold a dip in for hours) what would you reccomend
qsnuff is easy tobtake and decent nic in my opinion.
Toque quit. If that doesn’t come close to the Nicotine you want, I don’t know what would besides getting Toque Rustica but, Rustica from what I can tell is at the top for Nicotine. Both from what I read are hard to take but, Do not cause a throat drip. Some coughing if you do it wrong. Also some burning even if you do it right.
@jeffcraft1 If your not getting a strong enough “N” hit from dried out Copenhagen snuff then I don’t know what will give you what you want. When I used to dip, Copenhagen snuff was one of the strongest dips nicotine wise that I had and I tried most if not all of the brands of dip currently manufactured. I will say that when you do buy some regular nasal snuff you will have a much more pleasant experience. Nicotine wise with nasal snuff, try some American Scotch snuffs like Superior Scotch and Square Scotch, or definitely Toque Rustica like @Igglet suggested. There will be times when you can take snuff and not have your nose run, it depends on the snuff and also after you get used to snuffing your nose will run less and less. For me, the temperature outside as well as whether you have the heat on inside or the air conditioning will affect your nose condition when snuffing. Do be sure to try the American Scotch snuffs, if your in the US they should be fairly easy to find if your in the Southern States and also check out www.lilbrown.com. They are based in Washington state and ship to certain states in the US and have a couple of different American brands of snuff as well as Silver Dollar and a few Wilsons of Sharrow. Happy Snuffing!
i should also mention that all i did to the copenhagen was dry it out and grind it up. i didnt add any salt or ket it age or anything like that. at the same time when i was dipping i never did get much nicotine from copenhagen. it was usually the cheap brands like red man dip and long horn tht i got the most nicotine. im thinking about trying redman or levi garret chewing tobbaco next and seeing if that works better
Interesting. I have never heard of anyone saying Redman or Levi Garret having more nicotine. Spose people could have different absorption from different things. I didn’t notice at first you said Copenhagen. Seems like snuffing that should be pretty up their in nicotine or, maybe not since you said Redman for you have a bigger nicotine hit.
You might want to go with actual snuff. Levi Garret by the way makes a dry nasal snuff. Something about drying dip grinding it and, snorting it sounds like it might be worse than just doing regular snuff.
im going to order the top sellers pack on monday. im sure the experience will be more pleasureable
@jeffcraft1 I should have ordered that one when I started out. It looks like a real good range of snuffs. The only one I question is Makla Africaine Platinum. I think they may be an oral snuff.
i do believe its actually a snus from the research ive done. either that or the beginners pack. i just widh there were different flavors since i dont like apricot or menthol
Viking dark is strong, long lasting and easy to take. Highly recommended. Yes, your nose may run, forward and backwards, with different snuffs. Sometimes I just squeeze the juice out, keeping the bulk of snuff in my nose and then snuff more. There is some evidence that nicotine absorption rate increases for seasoned snuffers. If you stick with it you will find what works for you, big pinches, lots of little pinched, etc. And, eventually, it might not be all about nicotine.
It’s taken me about 3 years of trying different snuffs to find one that actually doesn’t cause any forward or back drop. Samuel Gawith’s SP No 1, is so far the only snuff I can take large pinches of and enjoy. Other snuffs usually cause my sinuses to get congested and then it’s no fun. So as @peppernut1 suggests try many different kinds of snuffs and try different ways to take the snuff, pinches, bullets, box car, back of hand etc. One day you will find your snuff. In the meantime there’s plenty of fun ahead as you find your way.
i added some clove to the homemade snuff i made.clove is some strong stuff.its usually one nostril that will run sometimes both. the clove seemed to cause my nose to run less. i ordered the coffee bundle since they were oout of the starter kit and the best seller kits. the clove is nice has a nice cooling effect. if any of you would like a sample let me know and i will send you some. i dont have a good filter so are still some pieces of stem in it but its really good
Been there with Cope FC. I lived to tell about it. So I did some more. Same result. Pretty good. http://snuffhouse.org/discussion/8878/copenhagen-fine-cut#latest
