For some reason, my left nostril is always better to snuff through than my right. I can shovel gram after gram into my left nostril with no problem, even the finest snuff goes in with no problem. Conversely, the right nostril is almost always completely clear and almost any snuff I try to put into it, it flies straight into my throat and causes a coughing fit. Does anyone else have this problem?
Occasionally I do, for me it really depends on my sinuses and how much they have blocked each nostril. So there are times when I’m getting ready to take a pinch or a sniff and I’m not sure what kind of experience I’m about to have. If you’re pinching try tilting your fingers to different degrees before you actually sniff and see if that helps, if sniffing from the back of the hand try putting each nostril more behind the snuff before sniffing. I hope this makes sense if it doesn’t I will try to re-phrase.
Yes, I do. But I have a deviated septum from having it broken twice. The second time it had already re-healed crooked before I or the surgeons even knew it was broke. ( i had a few other bones that took precedence…) Sometimes a deviated septum is a genetic fluke, but it’s actually a fairly common - especially if you’ve ever been punched in the nose. :^) It can be corrected, but unless it’s restricting your breathing, it’s usually considered an elective surgery.
All the time - its just how we are made.
I rarely, if ever, have two perfectly working blowholes Either side is usually clogged up in some way. It switches around every 2-3 hours.
yes i have the same problem
This has been discussed before and still my left nostril is number one! Right is clogged half the time.
The problem isn’t that it’s clogged. I suppose technically the left one is more clogged but that makes it easier to shovel the snuff in. The problem comes from my right and perpetually unclogged nostril. It’s so clear that snuff goes straight to my throat.
Yes but my left is the clear one.
My right is my best…
I have exactly the same condition. Must sniff sharply on the left, then only barely think about sniffing on the right.
Here’s a link that might interest some of you, it’s the wiki article on the ‘nasal cycle’: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nasal\\_cycle This definitely happens to me, it’s rare that both of my nostrils work at the same time (although they both are as I type funnily enough). Paying attention to this helped me learn to snuff properly without it all hitting my throat. I find that if I snuff into the more congested nostril first, I don’t get snuff at the back of my throat.
I’ve had some severe nose trauma in the past so my cycle is just botched. My right is always super clear, and the left usually doesn’t work at all. My right nostril moves so damn much air that I have a hard time not getting some of the finer stuff in the back of my throat/lungs. Except for F&T HDT. That stuff never misbehaves for some reason.
I also have this problem, it seems as my right nostril is somehow smaller on the inside. But what I do is usually just sniff it with less power on the left one. It works sometimes…
@Vathek Would you happen to be the 6 million dollar man incognito?
no he just happens to be the guy that opened pandoras disease box if experience is any indicator.
