Anyone’s sinuses affected by snuff? At first then build tolerance?

F

not mine. never had an issue even to begin with. some can affect nose, but i never had trouble with sinus.

K

Some snuffs cause inflammation of the sinuses for me, it took me a while to find the snuffs that did not cause irritation. Shop around. Some snuff I love but know I can only use in moderation, others I can use all day with no ill effects.

thanks for the responses guys…

F&T Bordeaux, which I love, is impossible for me to take. One of the scents (don’t know which one) will instantly slam my sinuses shut, and it’s usually for the rest of the day. Unfortunate, because it’s a great snuff. I also take Claratin D every day, and have allergy issues, and have for years.

thanks @WWHERMIT that’s what I was thinking…

Although I like it, menthol snuff affects my sinuses to the point were I’ve had to resort to non mentholated snuffs.

yes. When I first started snuffing my sinus got worse. After snuffing for a while they are better then they have ever been.

Menthols clog me up something fierce, especially in the spring and summer. Occasionally any snuff is a bad idea for my sinuses, but taking a couple of days og usually clears everything up alright.

T

For me it could by any number of things. Menthol, too large a pinch, too small a pinch, too fine a grind, too coarse a grind, too dry, too moist…it’s really all over the map. For example, a fresh can of Viking Dark, two big pinches in each side will block me up, two smaller pinches taken off the back of my hand and it’s all good. The best advice I can offer, is if your nose clogs up, blow it out and go for something else. Sometimes I just deal with it, or enjoy some snus.

Most snuffs clog me up horribly if I use them for very long. The only snuffs that won’t make my nose stuffy as hell are WoS Royal George, 6 Photo Motia, and the white snuffs. If I’m snuffing anything else I have to take pinches of a white inbetween to open my nose. Whites are unbelievably potent decongestants. I’ve had my nose so stuffed I couldn’t breathe through it; when it gets like that I take a straw and cut out a little “line” of a white snuff like I’m doing something illegal, and snort like all bejeezus, and the next thing you know I breathe as well through my nose as my mouth.

Very good info here. I can’t tell if my allergies are acting up or if it’s the snuff. The G&H tap boxes dry me out and make my nasal passages swell. But I have some Navy Scotch that sometimes does. Lately though I can’t really smell anything even with the Scotch. I have some 66 Medicated and 6 Photo Special that I hope will set me straight!

snuff from a GH tapbox (a.k.a. sneezebox) will be dry as the sands of Mars. Get rid of those things and enjoy GH from 25g mini tubs. They are dry within a week of manufacture. Another snuff company shooting itself in the foot… 8-|

I find a good dry snuff will dry and cake up in my nasal passages which seems to alleviate much of my allergy problem; keeps things open. I do find that the stronger menthols can irritate things and make my nose run, but that seems to be confined to the times when I’m a little stuffed up or sick anyway.
