African snuff in Canada

My day job brought me in contact with a man from Sudan who came to Canada as a refugee. On a whim I showed him the NTSU yellow and Taxi red tins I keep beside my desk and asked if he was familiar with them. He was confused at first, but when I told him it was tobacco for the nose he grinned and said lots of people he knows do that. He said they put it in their nose or in their lip. More interestingly, he said that most African people living in Canada just make their own snuff to save money. He said he’d bring me some. I’ll send y’all a full report.

Please do!

The amount of immigration into Canada sure makes for an interesting cultural mosaic, eh? Neat.

A vertical mosaic, in fact, if I am remembering correctly.
