Advice please

I’m planning on ordering a large variety of Wilson’s of Sharrow from Mr Snuff to try out. My question is would I be better served getting 5 gr or 10 gr tins to sample, or does it make it a difference? I’m thinking the size of tin may impact freshness. Thoughts?

Hi @DavidMac - I suggest 5g tins as there isn’t much in it in terms of freshness unless you customer order in bulk. 5g tins will be cheaper and enable you to try a range of different scents. However, I’d personally suggest ordering a few snuffs from several maufacturers, as they are all different in terms of base flour, grind, moisture, scent etc. A man who casts his net wide catches many fish! Good luck, I hope that you enjoy experimenting

As above, go for the 5g tins. Do look for other varieties such as Toque or McChrystals. All very good English snuffs. Maybe you’ll eventually graduate to Abraxas or Sir Walter Scott’s :))

If I could make a suggestion - They have a bundle of Wilson of SHarrow with 12 sample sized tine, as well as one fro McChrystals. For me total shipped was very reasonable. I was very pleased with them and getting 21 ( 3 McChrystals were duplicated ) different varieties. (See the whats in my mailbox for a complete listing on Monday 8/25/2014 of what I got )

I’ve been trying various McChrystals’s, and really like O&G and Highland Ice. Still have several more on order waiting to try. I’ve checked out both Abraxas and Sir Walter Scott’s. Here of late, I’ve lost my taste for coffee, so I’m hesitant about Abraxas, as coffee seems to be a scent in all of it’s snuffs. I’ll probably try Sir Walter Scott’s later, but right now, I’m not interested in high nicotine products. Until now, I was completely off tobacco for quite a while, and the medium nicotine snuffs are giving me quite the buzz as it is.

ill just add, if ordering from SG or GH, go for 25g. the 10g tapboxes are awful, its usually dead before it reaches you.

My thoughts would be if you are doing small tins- order a few of each so to allow a full appreciation of the particular snuff. Depending on how much you use, a 5g tin could be gone in a day or two and may not allow you to really get to know the snuff.

Before I placed my order a few weeks ago I had a talk with @mrsnuff and I was suggested if I understood correctly. To order the bit larger tins. I think what he explained to me that normally common snuffs are usally fress when you get them Since they move out quickly. But the issue is once it reaches the consumer. Those snuffs that you are sure you don’t like right away. You can send or trade off right away. But what if you have a few that you like them but not so much to finish them off in a few weeks/months? Larger amounts tend to stay a little fresher then less. And I think it makes sense.
