This might be a stupid idea but was wondering what you guys think. I have trouble taking fine snuff, scotches and toque quit etc. So I was wondering if I could add a few drops of water to them until they are like paste and then place that in the nose? The other thread where someone said about placing NTSU in the nose. So I was wondering if this is similar? Anyone try it?
Yes, you can increase the moisture level of snuff on your own. What seems to work best for me is the indirect method. I take my tin of snuff and a damp cotton ball and put them both in a ziploc baggie. The tobacco will absorb moisture over time and stirring the snuff once in a while helps to distribute it better. There is a lot of good information on this site pertaining to hydrating snuff.

Storing opened snuff tins inside of large mouthed mason jars works well for maintaining hydrated snuff. Once it has gone dry, I use the moistened tonquin bean method. Works like a charm.
@MrColcannon I can’t take credit for that idea as I once read it on this site. If I remember correctly it was SnuffHead that posted that tip.

You might find Schmalzers are better snuffs for you. Rather than altering a snuff that is not meant to be used that way (arbitrary statement but you know what I mean) get one that is purpose built for your needs?

@snuffster: Yeah I think your right. It’s a shame though I can’t get consistent results with the fine snuffs. Sometimes they work great and then sometimes straight to the throat! I think it’s inexperience though and I will get better with time.
American style Scotch snuff is hardcore!

W.E. Garrett is a great American Scotch. Bruton is certainly the most hardcore IMO though.
I’ve ordered some Bruton, Rooster, 6 photo cheeta and t&h hdt. All of which, I think are fine snuffs! So I’ll have to figure out how to take them better
