Howdy all from xtreme SE Arizona 3 miles from Mexico. I am a former pipe smoker and am grinding all my pipe tobacco into some scrumptous homeground snuff. (about 40 lbs. worth.) I’m too cheap to order snuff from across the pond and can’t find any for sale around here. I look forward to learning alot on this good lookin forum… Adios…

Welcome to Snuffhouse! You are grinding ALL of your pipe tobacco? That’s pretty ambitious when you have 40 lbs of tobacco. I would start small and grind some different blends to sample while also ordering some varieties of commercial snuff online to get acquainted with your tastes. Many of us here snuff all day as well as smoke the occasional pipe. Good on you for cutting back on the smoking.

Thanx, I found I was smoking about 10 to 12 pipes a day and not enjoying it. I have found the latakia and burleys offer a wonderful snuff. Many different combos to try. Thanx for the suggestions. So far, smokeless is workin for me. I have also wet a paper towel with essential oil (eucalyptus), and bedded it with some snuff. Waiting to see how that works out…This looks like a very inforich and civilized forum…Glad I found it.

Welcome…I was the same way but with moist snuff like Cope and Skoal, dipping 2 cans a day and only really enjoying a few of those dips. Now its mostly nasal snuff and a nice dip or 2 per day.Im enjoying myself much more this way.Never tried making my own snuff but I do enjoy coming up with mixes using different snuffs as well as adding my own flavors to plain snuffs. My favorite so far has been my Dental Plain scented with Southern Comfort.Enjoy and if you have any questions this is certainly the place to ask, theres more snuff knowledge here than one could imagine.

You could always trade your tobacco for snuff.

Shaman & outlaw thanx for da comments. Right now I am diggin the pipe baccy turned snuff 100%, but after I get a hold of some commercial grade, that might be an option (to trade pipe baccy) I also have about 175 pipes sittin doin nothing…mostly mid to blah grade pipes. Obsessive? me? never…

I dont even know where or how I would store that many pipes. I cant manage more then just one!

And I just sent about 30 pipes for my grandkids to sell on Ebay. Well now I have to make room for snuff jars. I’ve been smoking a pipe for 50 years so thats really only about 5 pipes purchased a year. ( I can rationalize almost anything). I adore each and every briar, but I do believe the days of smoke are over…Gettin old.

ooh, i suggest putting links for the sellers page up in the marketplace here or something (im sure itll be allowed). i for one would like to take a look.

@feralgeek it’s not at all hard to believe that @snuffysmiff has 175 pipes… I have more than that and I think I am more of a cigar and snuff guy than a pipe man. I bet there are many other members on this forum that have at least that many. There really is something about a good pipe though that is mighty tough to beat!!!

pipe acquisition disorder (PAD) can be a costly affliction. I surmise being a newb to snuff, that SAD (Snuff acquisition disorder) can be a tad obsessive and costly. When I read on a thread that many order snuff before receiving the last order, I’m getting a clue that …you guys are as nutz as pipe smokers…Ah lady Nicotine…what a floozy.
