My new snuff, Prince Regent, will be shipped to the warehouse this week. Made from carotte tobacco and aged for three years, the snuff is cased with Hine antique cognac, port and finished with ambergris, geranium and vanilla and will be limited to this one batch. Best wishes folks, Nigel.
Sounds nice!
Ohhh! Top news Nigel; been waiting for the release of this one!
Sounds like a real dream snuff. Or in other words please keep stealing snuffs from my dreams.
Wow.
Ha! I guess everybody on Snuffhouse will be placing an order this week, I hope Mr.Snuff is ready!
aaaaand just like that im back on mrsnuff. i dont snuff much anymore, but my main snuff is firedrac still and i love abraxas.
Let’s just call ambergris what it really is It’s vomited whale bile A secretion from a whales intestine that’s puked out. Edit: ( I’m Still getting 1 )
Any idea of when it will be available?? Friday and still not listed anywhere for purchase.
Mrsnuff I’m hoping
still not there. im waiting to see the price before i place an order. id like to pick up a small amount, but i wont if its too much.

Considering ambergris is 30 dollars a gram I would expect to pay 13 dollars for 15 grams of prince regent or maybe even more
It will be the same price range as the other premium lines, eg Cafe 11. If it was in regular production it would be prohibitively expensive but this is a small batch of 158 x 15g jars and won’t be repeated. I dispatched it to the warehouse on Friday so it won’t get there til Monday and will take time to get on the system. It’s in the hands of Mr Snuff now.
This may be all the push I needed to place another order …
Thanks for the heads-up, lunecat.
It’s now 156 pots :))
Grabbed 2. One to hold on to, and one to use.
Ordered!
Hope their is some left when I have more money! This ethereal, once in a lifetime snuff, would have to come out when I’m more broke than I’ve been all year!
Just placed an order for this as well as about 14 other items ( one of which was a bundle ) , lol …
This might be the wrong place to post this, but what the hell? Can a few of us get together when our orders of Prince Regent arrive and get some to @OleFactoryHugh ? I’m sure I can spare a few grams to send him. Thoughts?
I agree @chefdaniel. Us snuffers help each other out, at any given moment. It would be unfair for anyone to miss out on a once-in-a-lifetime snuff.
That’s two of us. Three more to go with a 2 gram donation and the man will have a nice 10 grams of nose treats
I bought two jars. I will happily give half of one jar for the cause.
Me too. He’s covered. Thanks.
You guys are awesome!!! Definitely didn’t want to miss this one!
This is by far the best community around. I’ve been to a lot of forums and while I may not totally fit in myself ( isn’t your guys fault lol ) this is by far the kindest community as a whole that I’ve witnessed.
Rave reviews, questions on if its the best snuff of all time. Ive placed 2 in the cart but why is it for a limited time? Snuffers are not cigar-istas we cannot be teased in such a way! :))
He’s having a giraffe, $13.95 + $6.49 postage to UK for 15grams of snuff? Royal Mail First Class would work out at less than a pound within the UK for 15 grammes of snuff. I’d love to try it but I just can’t see why the shipping is so expensive.
On top of this we get charged 1.50 fee because it’s in Dollars, madness!
Well I am off snuff at the moment because of illness but even I couldn’t resist ordering a few of them from SnuffStore. Does seems like a one off in that it took several years to complete so it may be advisable not to dither to long. Now I just hope that I like it? I’ll make it the first snuff I try on my return to snuff if fact I won’t even wait that long. It’s going up the nose as soon as I get it, illness or not.
Have given the hard earned dollars to MrSnuff… Hoping that it will arrive this week.
Yes just ordered some, its going to be gone soon I think.
Hi, are your snuffs mentholated? I would be very interested in trying it if it’s not.

I left for class today and there were 70 containers left, assumed I’d have time to order when I came back. Talk about regret D:
Abraxas are you getting tips from coca cola? http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/New\\_Coke
SOLD OUT!! Wow…that has to be some kind of record. Much kudos to Nigel.
You sly dog you!
@Friendlyman, don’t worry, Abraxas is not one to go overboard on the menthol. Try StCasura for an interesting take on an SP, also one of the cheaper of his range. But the range is very diverse, each different from the others.
Dose it have any menthol at all? @JakartaBoy @Abraxas
Dose it have any menthol at all? @JakartaBoy @Abraxas
Only the ones that say menthol in the name My gotos are cafe 11 and Premium batch fin. Both are excellent and menthol free.
As @nikonNUT says. Actually, I thought I totally hated menthol until I tried Firedrac, but @Abraxas knows when to stop. It’s a very mild mint that blends very well with the pepper and spices. When you are ready to confront your prejudice, that’s the one to go for. From a man who would usually rather go without snuff than take mentholated snuff.
All I can say is: DARN! Being a piner for what might have been, this is something that will be with me for a while (being as it’s not with me at all). Ah, when snuff becomes the stuff of auction-like selling speeds. Congrats to the maker, though well deserved, for sure.
Psssssst! I’ll sell one of the couple I bought for ten times the list price! Get it now, it goes up to twenty times at the end of the month. Just kidding, mods. Please don’t move this post to the Bazaar section.
@Friendlyman - only Dragun menthol and Firedrac. For anyone that bought a Prince Regent - my thanks and I hope you enjoy it, of all my snuffs it’s my personal favourite.
I put @Abraxas cerise in my order @MrSnuff last night. I hope I like it. Will keep you posted.
For anyone that bought a Prince Regent - my thanks and I hope you enjoy it, of all my snuffs it’s my personal favourite.
Telling us that Prince Regent is your favorite of all your great snuffs is a strong and meaningful statement, Nigel @Abraxas. Can I ask what it is about Prince Regent that makes it your personal favorite? I know why it is now my favorite snuff, not only in the Abraxas range but among all brands, as I stated as best as I could in my thread on it. But I would be tremendously interested in hearing your view on why it is your favorite. Thank you.
Just opened mine. Had a couple of pinches and there does seem to be somethng extra to this snuff and that seems to be in the quality excellence department. I must admit on my very first sniff of the opened jar I was immediately reminded of St.Casura but when I got the St.Casura to check it was a lot more subdued and anyhow this is no problems because I’ve recently come to enjoy St.Casura more but this Prince Regent is the next level up for sure. At present I’m really mostly getting the Geranium but it’s much nicer than the current F&T styles. More natural and it is nice and refreshing. Hoping to get more of the other scents as I have a chance to use it more which I certainly will be doing. Very well done @Abraxas. You’ve brought yet another new great snuff experience to my world. It’s simply the best floral I’ve ever tried. Just tried the St.Casura again and there deinitely is a similarity although St.Casura adds the toast element so for anyone who unfortunately didn’t order Prince Regent in time you can still get some idea from St.Casura. Anyone who loves the current F&T’s or florals I imagine is going to be very impressed with Prince Regent. I am and I’m not even necessarily a floral fan but this Prince Regent is one mighty fine snuff indeed. Just got to have some more. Absolutely beautiful. I’d probably love any snuff of this quality no matter what scent it had!
does it contain rustica? not that it matters, i wasnt able to get hold of any haha. if any not so heavy snuffers in the uk fancies sending me a small sample id be grateful.
@fredh - Simply, it was laid down for so long with me wondering if it would be any good and worth the wait, and then finding I had something that was everything I hoped it would be. @I_snuff_therefore_ - Thank you! @Firestarter0 - it does.
@Abraxas so can we expect more of the same? Limited edition snuff. Do you have anything else in the works? Ive never purchased any of your wares before.

Yes I think the word I hadn’t found when last writing was Exquisite. Certainly makes my old F&T’s seem pretty dull now. A happy snuff day to have this Prince Regent to enjoy. I’m certainly converted to floral (dessert floral?) in this case. I do like WoS Rose and also Best SP as I saw you say that you liked Nigel so maybe we have some taste in comon but this Prince Regent is a real fine item. It’s got to be a standard for all snuff to aspire to. The bar has been raised almost certainly. I’d have to score it a maximum 10. Can’t see that it deserves anything less. You can certainly be hugely proud of this one Nigel. Looking forward to the other comments very much as I expect there will be a lot of glowing reviews.
Thank you. Probably every new snuff I release from now on will be limited edition as I don’t really have the capacity to increase the core group and keep manufacturing completely in my own hands. I have more ideas but nothing planned for the immediate future. Cheers guys.
Easy just ditch something/anything/all of them from the core range and get Prince Regent firmly installed in there. Just start a little whale farm for lots of fresh ambergris. Already I can’t imagine snuffdom without this Prince Regent. It really is like a snuff made for Royalty but which us Plebs can use! Wish I had bought much more now, maybe all 158 jars! If there were still some left I would be putting in another order for sure. Still looking forward to the future limited editions if this is anything to go by. I’ll start saving now and next time might just buy the lot. Maybe I’m extra impressed because I had not used snuff for about 10 days to then start again with such a marvelous snuff as this. Wow. Anyone who didn’t buy some, you do have my genuine sympathy. So I have to ration what I have but in a way it makes each pinch more special and precious. The more I use it it just keeps on giving this sublime scent again and again. It’s a bit ladies perfumeish but fresh and alluring . It actually should be made as a ladies perfume. The Geranium smells better than real geranium which is maybe the Cognac and Port at work but I can’t pick those out myself? Whatever. It definitely works for me and then some. Long live Prince Regent, hurrah!!!
I have a tin on order, but with all these rave reviews I may not snuff it and instead auction it off in 30 years to finance a yacht … hahahaha … jokes aside -I can’t wait till it gets here.

I never bought one myself couldn’t get over the " ambergris " as they call it just creeps me out… Even though I wanted to like it… but I should have bought some to resell just slipped. My mind. I bet if you put it up for sale you can get a good 50 bucks per tin. ( Assuming that he won’t produce more " limited " runs. ) I know 50 bucks for 15 grams does not at all reflect the community here at large but from a business perspective when people run out I bet it will be a logical price. You got em by the nose!
I see some of our members saying here and there that perhaps Nigel will make more Prince Regent sometime in the future. I think this is extremely unlikely. Ambergris is not something that most people have sitting on their cupboard shelves. That stuff is extremely expensive and is always, even for the wealthy, in limited supply, or more likely, no supply at all. I think we have seen the last of Prince Regent, except maybe for resale on eBay or via some entrepreneur here on Snuffhouse (as some others have said). Just my opinion… FWIW Most of us pipe tobacco collectors/smokers are quite aware that certain old pipe tobaccos have sold on eBay for hundreds of dollars a tin. I once saw a 2 ounce tin (57 grams) of Balkan Sobranie 759 (from the 1970s) sell for $1325.00 on eBay and it is not unusual for old, sealed, unopened tins of some elite brands to sell for $300 or more. It would not surprise me at all if this were to happen some day with certain elite snuffs. Once again, just my opinion… FWIW
Just so there is no misunderstanding my post was totally tongue in cheek …
I was implying more limited runs not a constant supply. It makes sense if something sells well that it would return. Limited supply is marketing 101. Now I don’t know a lot about ambergris granted… But Ambergris is still around and I’m assuming people can always just " push the food around " so to speak and find it from any supply… Until the sale of ambergris products becomes illegal itself we will always see a return. Just an educated guess obviously I’m not in the loop or on speaking terms with any whales currently LOL
I don’t believe that ambergris is ‘that’ rare. From memory I believe that this batch of ambergris (the Prince Regent one, and whatever cunning masterpiece @Johnny comes up with) was a chance find by Johnny Scott on the beach, which he kindly ‘shared’ with Nigel. Nigel has said previously that this snuff has been in development for over three years; I’m guessing that if more ambergris finds it’s way to either Johnny or Nigel then we can re-start the clock to three years and counting I guess this is what is being referred to in terms of it being a limited batch…
Actually, the ambergris was bought from a dealer in the Chatham Isles, a small archipelago in the Pacific 800 miles from New Zealand, where ambergris is occasionally washed up. Johnny
Just to clarify this: there will be no more Prince Regent, it’s not a marketing ploy. PR was a personal project that predates my becoming a commercial snuff producer and it’s maturation took place whilst Abraxas happened. The ambergris was a nice addition but the real stars of the show are the tobacco and liquor - and I won’t be buying those again because they are simply too expensive to use in the way I used them with this snuff, so ambergris is not the issue. The reality is that PR was something I really wanted to do, so I did it, but it really is a one off. The position with future single batches is this: I make all the snuff myself and can just about find the time to make enough of the regular production snuffs, so new snuffs will be as and when I can find the time and probably one offs.
Now I’ve got another 2 pinches less of Prince Regent. I imagine that this snuff would/should have cost a lot more just based on the materials never minnd the years of preparation. It just has that feeling about it. I think Nigel has given us the opportuntiy to have quite a bargain although we have all been caught out some in not buying enough or even any at all. I know my nose is a bit runny these days but I still don’t understand why I don’t get anything much tobacco and liquor or maybe I am but in a different way and not realising as it blends so completely effortlessly with the Geranium. I don’t get any vanilla either? I’m still very happy indeed with what I am getting. It really is snuff love. Fantasic news that Johnny has another coming along also.
If the reviews keep being this strong, i may force myself to sit on this till next June, and wait to open it on my 40th birthday as a treat … or perchance save it to celebrate the birth of my first grandchild, whenever that day might come …
I say crack it open and behold the wonder (not that you will be run over tomorrow but… The good thing is that the little jars are jam packed full and so for the occasional couple of treat pinches per day they do stretch a surprisingly long way. Luckily there are already and will be more great snuffs to come but this Prince Regent does have something special so I will be stretching mine out more and more as it gets lower. I did get a couple of spares but it’s just not seeming enough now but I’m very glad I at least got more than one and no they are not for sale/donation whatever. These have got to be used and enjoyed, by me and present company. I look forward to hearing what more people think of it. It’s easily got to be one of the finest snuffs I’ve had and just having this has increased my favourable view of snuff in general as to the greatness that can be achieved. I think so far that it’s only myself and @fredh that have given an opinion and we’ve both been very impressed I think it’s fair to say? and neither of us are particulary floral snuff fans! How quickly that can change. another 2 pinches less…
I like it too and mainly floral scent is what I detect.funny though as you go outside into fresh air it changes and reminds me of the sea air .what I like the most is the smoothness of the scent and doesn’t over power the senses.remember to refrigerate this as I think it wont last otherwise.especially for all you long time keepers.
Out of Stock @ Mr. Snuff

I tried some F&T Bordeaux as I had the feeling that there might be a connection there and there is a little. Where the F&T seems to go wrong is the scent is so overpowering and lingers but not in any nice way and that seems to be how most of that line is. Prince Regent is how to do it right. A perfect balance of scent and strength to it. F&T should take note. Compared to this Prince Regent, F&T Bordeaux is so overdone it’s practically unusable which is probably why I haven’t been using it but it seems like something they could easily fix. Initially the Bordeaux starts out nice and then it’s all downhill. Prince Regent peaks immediately and then cruises along the highest ridge.
To me, @I_snuff_therefore___ it is not a floral snuff and does not belong in that category, but it does have a floral component. I can detect a touch of vanilla, and some of the cognac/port as well. It’s not all flowers in there. And yes, the base tobacco definitely stands out to me as being very rich and deep and mellow but the tobacco flavor does not emerge for me until after a while. To me, the components of Prince Regent are very well balanced and integrated. But I can see why it would seem like a floral to some tasters. That’s the first thing that hits you. Of course, it goes without saying that all tasters have their own varying perceptions. FWIW
My patience is being tried. I am waiting for the mailman like some kid waiting for Christmas. There are two jars of this snuff wonder on their way to my nose and I’m about to wet myself if they don’t get here soon. The anticipation is the only downside I can think of with Abraxas and SWS Snuff. Waiting is a bitch.
Kicking myself for not buying some to resell. Oh well
I am with @chefdaniel - i have not awaited something with this much anticipation since the last Star Wars movie came out … Unless my wife reads this - then it was my wedding day - I promise sweetie . ( but yeah - waiting on the last Star Wars movie was a bitch… )
I guess I’m lucky living in the UK,always super fast delivery. The weather might be s…t alot of the time but we snuff benefits.I get the tobacco richness also after a while when settling in the nose.reminds me of premium batch baccy.very nice snuff overall a winner.
Anticipation!! After reading all these great things about it… What happens if I don’t like it when it arrives

This incredible tragedy can be solved by sending it all to me. I will be happy to pay you for it including the shipping costs you paid to Mr. Snuff as well as shipping costs to me. No worries, @Johnus, I have your back. And yes, I am serious. :)>-
Like they say in the military, “Hurry up and wait.”
Anticipation!! After reading all these great things about it… What happens if I don’t like it when it arrives
Well, if you are used to strongly scented, sweet and/or mentholated snuff, you might be momentarily underwhelmed, although you should enjoy the quality of the tobacco immediately. I find sws scents quite subtle, they exist to bring out the flavor of the tobacco.
What if… someone, or something, has hijacked all the orders? Doodoodoodoo doodoodoodoo doodoodoodoo… Keep Calm This is an amber(gris) warning!
@fredh Something I live by all too well…
ITS HERE! ITS HERE! Now … to snuff, or not to snuff?.. that is the question… To taste it now after a day of labor, or in the morning upon a fresh nose, or to hold it back for a special moment? Oh, the decisions …oh, the humanity …
The package arrived in today’s post. Label recommends that it be ‘Decantered’. No problem. Should it also rest/breath/ etc before it’s taken??
I am serious about saving it I think - if nothign else I may take it this weekend when I will be out fishing for wahoo and poosible sailfish on the Atlantic - I mean, who else can say they tried it for the first time on the open seas?
I missed it. Oh well. I was deciding whether i could justify spending that sort of money ona snuff, but I should’ve really. But what if I bought it, loved it, and then when it ran out spent the rest of my life mourning something I could no longer get…

Well, let me put that in perspective … in 11th grade there was an Irish exchange student at our school, and I chased her, sweet talked her and romanced at her until I finally nailed her. Now, I knew that would not be forever, or that I could never get it again once she was gone … But yeah, TOTALLY worth it .
Other reviews?
Not looking like it. Maybe they all got run over? I’ll even admit that after my initial glut and hype phase I’ve paused for a bit on Prince Regent use as it is quite a distinct and powerful fragrance but that of course means that it’ll last me a bit longer. At least I know it’s there for when the mood arrives and I’m sure then it will still be fantastic.

Well, I think Premium Club and Cafe11 are both brilliant, but I can’t imagine wanting to pig out on either of them. It’s not, or at least not only, that they are quite expensive, I just think they are the kind of snuff that works best as an occasional pleasure, maybe a small session with each of them once or twice a week. St.Casura and Dragun, on the other hand, could easily work all day. But the others, doing it all the time would be like having to eat Lobster Thermidor every god dammed day of the week.
@Johnus - “Nice!” in a Smashie & Nicey stylie
I debated buying the PR (was lurking the forum at the time); however, I ultimately decided against it. Nothing against the maker, or the product, nor is it even a price issue. As a matter of fact, I’m willing to bet its splendid stuff. It’s the fact that I don’t need any unobtanium. I’ve tried the BS 759, Cope’s Escudo and Virginian No. 10–and, while each are good, especially the No. 10–I could never fit them into my daily diet in any event. Thus, the one off doesn’t really have any utility for me–I just like to schnort my usual 5 grams of Lavender Dark a day and disgust the townspeople–I’m a user, not a collector. And as to the ambergris question, I’d say it’s a nonissue. I use a dab of high end scent to hide my own manly essences which means I’m smearing a little whale barf on myself first thing out of the shower every morning. Put in that perspective, I’m willing to inhale a bit.
Been trying it now for a couple of days. Hate to be labeled a spoil-sport but it does nothing for me in the areas of flavor or nicnotine.
Its certainly different from any snuff I had before.I bought sws st.james parish blend at the same time and which one do I prefer?sws for sure. This has all the scents I like in a snuff and is my new number one.I found that prince regent giving me odd pain in my face and bit of a headache.so I’m going to go steady on it for now.
I have mine. I did open it and smell it, but not snuff it. The smell reminded me of a room tempreture to warm Porter, and something fruity I could not place a finger on. Still have not snuffed any - I am serious when I say i am saving it for when I am out to Sea this weekend fishing.
That could be very good to try it while at sea in the fresh air? I hope it works well. Definitely should be a blast. Just had some more now and I still love it but I’ve been using mainly SWS and Abraxas snuffs anyhow. Seems like it is dividing opinion though, which is of course ok. Tastes always differ and change. If you are not so keen on it now there is still a distinct possibility that putting it aside would be best and come back to it again some other time at which point it might just click as it has with me. I still rate it a snuff of the highest class.
Mine just arrived. I think I’ve been clear that I’m not a fan of floral/perfumed snuff. On that note: Great Snuff! Not a daily, that’s too much of a good thing. For me, strictly an after dinner/late night treat. Nice tobacco coming through, the geranium is low key and the nicotine delivery is perfect. Another Nigel/Abraxas masterpiece.
Thanks Daniel.
Finally got around to trying mine - I thought it smelled like fish … That was at sea off the coast of the Carolina’s - maybe the snuff brought us good luck - we super-limited the boat on wahoo - and had a few citation class catches. Jokes aside - I like it. It does have that warm porter aroma I mentioned before, for me at least, but it is good stuff. I look forward to it in the fall when I am out walking my hunting woods.
@The_HP, All that sounds like a fish story to me. What internet site did you steal that photo from?
Just scored a few grains of this ‘unobtainium’. To experience this olfactory wonder is very special. Big thanks to the generous soul that gifted this to me!!!
This snuff has received ample praise already, but it is well deserved! From the moment I smelled it, I knew it was going to be awesome. It sits so nicely in the nose and even after several spoonfuls back drip is minimal, forward drip as well, for that matter. This stuff is poetry for my nose. Some are using the word floral to describe it but that is only what I get upon first sniffing it. There is a wonderful interplay of perfectly balanced and complimentary elements happening all at once, a symphony. After it settles in, I definitely detect the port and cognac, fruity tobacco, and outside I did get a slight whiff of vanilla, all in perfect harmony. The scent lingers a long time but it is welcome to stay as long as it lasts:) Truly a work of art and I feel very lucky to experience it. Well done!!!
I missed it. :(( and most of last year 8-X but I am alive today
Which is all that counts and long may that continue. Abxs
