Abraxas Premium Fin

Another fine blend is about to hit the streets from Abraxas. I had the privilege of tasting Abraxas Premium Fin, which exceeded all expectations and should be described as nothing less than a spiritual experience. It is a snuff beyond comparison and one that I would be afraid to take as an all-day snuff at risk of losing the special feeling it gives me. Abraxas Premium Fin screams class and luxury. Dark in color, the grind is fine and moist. Perfect to my liking and feels like snuffing pure silk. The flavor is incredibly rich and complex, with notes of fine liquors and premium blend coffee. But as it sits in the nose, I’m hit by something more-- A wonderfully decadent aroma like dark chocolate and fresh raspberries. All coming together like a very expensive, rich dessert in a five star restaurant. This snuff makes me want to buy a tuxedo and host lavish cocktail parties. The flavor is quite lasting, but the taste of quality tobacco really shines towards the end. It also seems to be pretty generous in the Nic department, as I’m getting a bit light headed while typing this. It would be difficult for anyone to dispute the quality and craftsmanship of this blend, and it is one that you will not want to miss.

Love this snuff and don’t have much to add to the discussion since I think you hit the nail on the head. I would say though the diffrence between this and the regular abraxas to my nose seems to be it’s sharper and the scents are more defined, where as the first abraxas is rounder, warmer, and richer. Though they seem similar but demonstrate that grind doesn’t just effect nicotine uptake and nose feel but also effects the basic scent in a subtle way.

Pretty generous in the nic? i often use snus, and have used taxi red, and a scotch, and it may be that i havent used tobacco in 24 hours, but this stuff is definitely making me feel lightheaded. strongest sensation ive had yet from snuff… could be the fact it is so beautifully scented and smooth, maybe i used more than normal, but wow… whatever the premium batch fin for sale right now is, its the best snuff i have ever used. Also, i like using bullets/spoons, but this is one to pinch for me. seems to make it almost a bit creamier, and even better if i warm it up and rub it between my finger tips as i inhale. ill still keep my regular snuffs, but this is something i find really special. OP nailed it, but i really do feel that the incredible quality here justifies the higher price. drip i got was a little harsh, but short lived and again could be due to quantity. Only issue i could possibly raise is its one of the few ive had that make my nose run, but as i cant imagine myself using it as an all day snuff (dont want to waste it) that is an easily solved issue. Absolutely incredible stuff. or should i say ‘awful’, please everyone, dont buy it. i havent actually made a repeat order of a snuff yet, but this is definitely on my list.

A confession, at the risk of incurring wrath or derision: this one had to grow on me. The first pinches of Premium Fin made me wonder what all the commotion was for. But after a couple of weeks of occasional pinches and careful observation, I guess I’m getting the point. The first impression of this snuff, apart from a sharpness in the nose caused by the fine grind, is the coffee/liquor and subsequent chocolate aroma described by most other reviewers. I can’t detect the fruit (raspberry?!?) that some people hint at, though. If there is a ‘secret ingredient’, my best guess would be liquorice, either that or Ricard (which has a distinct liquorice aroma). I have yet to take a pinch of Premium Fin without being hit by the distinct aroma of liquorice. I also picked up the ‘Cuban cigar’ scent noted by some reviewers, although my association was Sumatra. This, no doubt, is a cultural deformation and I am probably wrong. This is one fine snuff, and I am really thankful that people like @Abraxas (and Jaap, and Roderick, etcetera, you know who you are) are around to keep the art of snuff making alive. Some day, I may get to like Premium Fin so much that I’ll give it the full five stars. For now, there are still a couple of issues I may have to overcome. Although the grind is very fine, the moisture tends to make it clumpy, which makes it harder than most to use. The aroma, though exquisite, lasts only for a short while (contrary to what many reviewers report, I must add, so it may be me). Also, it packs a nicotine punch that may be somewhat over the top, especially if you load up extra to make the aroma last. Perhaps future versions could be enhanced with a longer lasting scent, or a slightly less punishing nic hit - again I realise that these preferences are highly personal and may even change over time. For now, a good four stars.
