I must admit that I’m not typically a fan of mentholated snuffs. At times, I find the initial blast of menthol pleasing, but after a minute it makes my nose run and stuff up like crazy and I have to blow it out as soon as I snuff it. Having said that, Abraxas Dragun CM is amazing! With Dragun CM, I’m experiencing quite the opposite of my normal reaction and it makes my nose feel really open and refreshed. The menthol ratio is pretty spot-on and has just enough menthol to be pleasant without overpowering the beloved Dragun. I get the Dragun’s fire when I exhale, and the fresh cooling menthol when I inhale. My nose is very confused, and I’m loving it. The beautiful blonde color and medium grind appear to be the same, however Dragun CM seems slightly more moist than the original. The scent from the jar remains close to the original Dragun, reminiscent of warm cooking spices, but much lighter. In the nose, the burn is less intense and is coupled with a fresh lemony zest, as has been mentioned by Nigel. I believe the menthol also brings out some flavor of the great tobacco used in Dragun, and I’m getting whiffs that remind me of a nice buttery toast. I highly recommend this blend both to lovers of Abraxas and to beginning snuffers who have wanted to try the original Dragun but are apprehensive of it’s intensity.
