Here are two reviews by Johnny:
I consider myself very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to sample both Abraxas Club and Cerise.
Both are truly superb snuffs and I imagine, the nearest thing to those made by the master blenders of the Georgian era.
Abraxas Club.
Taken cold, the top notes are pure coffee, moving to alchohol and then a
sweet scent which I guess is the citrus flavouring.
Once warmed to near body temperature, they combine together to create an
unexpected top note of rich toffee, passing to alchohol and finishing quite a
while later, with a faint sweet scent.
The flour is a fairly coarse, damp mill, which I happen to prefer, with a good strong nicotine hit.
Curiously, the flour becomes darker as the box warms up and slightly more
moist.
It is a truly magnificent snuff.
Cerise
On opening the sample tub, the first scent is a healthy farmyard aroma.
Following Snuffster’s advice, I decanted some into a snuff box and let it breathe for an hour.
On opening the box one is hit with an incredibly strong scent of cherries, rich, powerful and vibrant with alchohol and coffee. In the nose, there is the rich, sweet smell of cherries, followed by rum or brandy and coffee. As the box continues to warn to near body temperature, these combine together and intensify, before separating into their different component scents, gradually fading away to a soft, sweet scent, which I cannot place.
The flour is medium coarse, damp and a wonderful, dark red colour.
As with Abraxas Club and Premium blend, the nicotine content is very satisfying.
This is an exquisite dessert snuff and a masterpiece of the blender’s art. Like a good wine, it can only improve with age.
