A different Jaxons question.

How do you guys pronounce Jaxons? It just struck me today how odd it was that I automatically assumed it was a soft j, like in German. I’ve always said it as Yacksons, rather than saying it like Jacksons. So, how do you guys think of it? Any official pronounciation?

Well, I pronounce it as Jaxons like in Michael Jackson

I’m pretty sure that it is meant to be pronounced “Jacksons”. If it was German, then the “J” as a “Y” sound would work, but it is an English snuff.

Also you’ll never need to say it unless you can buy it over the counter somewhere.

I usually order Jack in Coke and get what I want.

I realize all this. And cstokes, its because its an English snuff I find it so amusing that I default to that pronounciation.

Yes,in the UK Jaxon’s, and Jackson’s would be pronounced the same.

Who makes Jaxons? Is it still a secret? Would people stop buying it if they said Gawith?

It’s no longer a secret. Someone mentioned it in the last thread, but it’s actually what Pieter does for a living. Yep, he makes Jaxon’s.

The same question goes for Toque. How to pronounce this? Is it similar to the word/verb talk?

I believe Toque is pronounced toke, hence his slogan “don’t smoke - snuff Toque”

Few days ago I did my first order from Toque, and sometimes I offer people to try some snuff that I have. So I’d like to be able to tell them which snuff is it…

yes it’s pronounce toke. It’s the type of hat chefs wear.

@bob Unless you’re Canadian and pronounce it “Took”, rhyming with spook.
