I’m sure these have been discussed many times before, but I just wanted to give my impressions of them. I got the 6 photo snuff bundle from MrSnuff, and received the 8g containers in the mail. Without the little labels (which fall off very quickly), they look like little film canisters - is this related to the brand name at all? Anyway, I’ve tried them all, and there are certain commonalities. All of them are very dark, basically black in color, except for the Super Kailash, which is brown. They all seem reasonably moist (though certainly not as much as a schmalzler); at least, none of them are too dry, like a certain American snuff that I will complain about elsewhere. All of them can have a bit of a sting in the nostrils, especially if taken too quickly, though I haven’t had a problem with them burning or being unpleasant in the throat. All of them have some amount of menthol/camphor, which I understand is what the typical Indian snuff-taker expects from his snuffs, though one of them had significantly more of this effect than the others. I’ll give my opinions of each: Anarkali - Has the most pronounced rose scent (as it is meant to). If I’m not mistaken, on my first try it seemed a bit too artificially sweet, though subsequently it didn’t. Quite nice. Kailash - Just nice. It seems like it’s basically the Special with a much lighter amount of menthol/camphor. Again, even with the flavors, it has a nice, dark, rich scent. Lovely. Super Kailash - Unlike the others, a fairly light brown. Also pleasant, but damn, it’s hard to describe these scents without training in herbology or whatever! Not as dark and rich, I guess. Special - My favorite. It has a wonderful clearing effect, seemingly from menthol and camphor. Underneath that is a rich fragrance that doesn’t entirely hide the tobacco, though it definitely has some herbs/spices. It actually reminds me of a more heavily-flavored F & T Santo Domingo; hopefully I’m not off-base with that thought! Unfortunately, the labels all fell off almost immediately upon opening the containers. For that reason, I might have the Anarkali and the Kailash reversed above. I’m pretty sure of the Super Kailash, due to the color, and I’m pretty sure the Special is the most mentholated/camphor-infused of them, right? Anyway, the one I think is the Special has a green lid, whereas the others all have yellow lids (with one almost orange, I think). Would appreciate your help in identifying them, as well as confirming or contradicting my impressions. Thanks! Brian/Jacobin
Hi,Jacobin, Thanks for sharing your impressions about sixphoto snuffs. It is the Anarkali which has a green lid though you are right about it’s more pronounced rose scent . It is good you like these snuffs,There are plenty more other flavors to try like Motia,Super chetak,Cheeta white snuff and Natural. Besides we have a complete range of English type Mediacted snuffs, namely No.6,66 &666.
You also have to try 6 photo natural. It is one of my favorites. Brown in color, moist, and has a pretty high nic content as well. Cheeta is also good. Very fine with some good vitamin N.the scent reminds me of nag champa.
I take a sharpie marker and mark the tubs, although those little guys are only good for two days and then they’re gone. I like the new 66 and 666 tins for freshness over the old fashion metal tins. I transfer them to glass jars after opening but always cautious with those old style tins fearing getting cut with the jagged edges .

Yeah, I think I actually mixed up the Anarkali and the Kailash because the labels fell off. Well, now I know which one to order a 200g tin of (how does anyone get through that before it gets stale?). Some people say they would only use “exotic” or “heavily scented” snuffs like 6 Photo in the evenings or as an occasional treat, but I could use them all day!
@Jacobin I have ordered 200 gram bulk of the anarkali and the natural. I keep em in Masonjars for ffreshness but I use them daily. I need to order more natural tho my stock is almost out. you wont have any problems with snuffs going stale if you store them properly.

AT 4 Grams a day that’s only 50 days even at 3 grams it’s 66 days. so basically it a 2 month supply. Proper storage will keep snuff fresh as the day you opened it.
You don’t have to worry about labels falling off if you buy 200 g canisters!
That’s all I buy these days… 6 Photo in 200 g incraments!
Kailash is now my favorite snuff. Just enough menthol to clean and clear with a strong and lasting floral. Have other 6 photos on order. Love that snuff. While I cannot imagine having only one snuff this would be high in the running
The only one I have tried so far is Anarkali, but I’m really liking it
6 photo snuffs are my favourite, I use 66 all day, with interspersions of other snuffs. Anarkali and Super Khailash are always in my rotations. Motia Special & Khailash always in my bag.
I think it’s a good company and like some of them quite a bit: Special, Anarkali, Natural, Super Khailash and Medicated 66 are the best so far IMO. Haven’t tried Khailash because I heard it has musk, or Motia which may just have too much camphor for me. Your mileage may vary…
I just tried some Super Kailash, I like it, but I’m not sure what it is. A little medicated, a hint of a scent, perfume would be too strong a word. Nice fine, but not super fine grind. I’m definitely going to try more of their snuff.
I’m curious What are the “traditional Indian herbs that are known for their medicinal properties” listed on many of the 6 Photo descriptions @basement_shaman any Idea
@3_D It is a trade secret and if I told you I would have to snuff you out. I do like me some herbs. 6Photo won’t give up recipe of the herbs or they would list them. Sorry Charley
Please do not hesitate to ask me anything about snuff. Cannot list the recipe obviously! I’m very thankful to all of you for your support
@sixphoto and we are very thankful for your snuff
My 6 Photo assortment has just gone from one to three. I picked up Anarkali not long back in a trade with @Firestareter and loved it, and knew I had to try more. I placed an order not long after for another two from 6P. First off was an 8g sample of Super Kailash which I really like, and I’ve just got my first nose full of Kailash after jarring up the 45g tin which was also more flavoursome than I expected for some reason. All three of these snuffs are really nice and I’m really glad to have them in the snuff arsenal. None of them are the kind of snuff I would personally use as an all day snuff, but I don’t think I’ll be going more than two or three days without having at least one sniff of at least one of these flavours. They are a very nice and very welcome break to the “staple” snuffs in my array. If I was to change one thing about them, it would be having the name on the tin instead of trying to remember what the colour coding is
