I am on the hunt for snuff. My wife grandmother is from the south. She drives all the way down their to get her snuff. With the virus she can't travel. I can't find her perfrefered brand online. She likes navy sweet scotch dry and railroad sweet scottch dry. What would be similar types i could find online. Thanks in advanced.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Does your grandmother take those dry snuffs nasally or orally/dentally?
  • She takes it orally.

If your granny is adventurous, here's a link to rose scented Indian snuff, suitable for oral use: . This vendor sells snuff by boxes only.

Or phone The Briar Shop tobacconist and ask if they carry any American dry scotches., you'll find the phone number displayed on the very top of the site. This store accepts phone orders. Mind you, it can be pricey there.

  • Thanks ill give it a shot... she's starting to get cranky... apparently our area mainly sells long cut dips and the like. Some 9f the snuff she's gotten around here she says they are too wet and bitter.

Most of us here take dry snuffs nasally, so bitterness is only in the throat drip, which isn't too big issue...

I read about dry snuff dipping and tried some Sugand Sagar Rose snuff that way last night. It is kind of bitterish, indeed. Must be the taste of essential oils there. While most folks in India use those snuffs orally, this one is probably not the best choice for your granny tho... It's a delight in the nose, but bitter in the cheek. Better look for your granny's favourite. Some of American dry snuffs are available at online snuff store, but shipping might take up to two months now.
  • Both those are available in every winndixie. Maybe they have online shopping.
  • Red Seal and Bruton are common in Tennessee. The are both nice American Scotches. Generally large chain groceries like Kroger may not stock it but Winn Dixies, Piggly Wiggly, IGA and others should...
